What is the Hive Anyway?

We all know that the North Fork Valley is abundant in natural resources, home to a few world-class organizations, and full of smart, creative, successful people.  When it comes to things like the local economy, job growth, and modern technology, however, things could use some improvement.  The Hive was created to support these improvements while preserving the small town culture that we cherish. 

Located at 130 Grand Avenue in downtown Paonia, The Hive offers private office suites, meeting rooms, multiple workspaces for members to work and collaborate, a lounge and kitchen, an event space/art gallery, high speed internet and color printing, complimentary organic coffee and tea, and an online member directory.  Our recent tech upgrades include a Verizon cell booster, flat screen TV for presentations, and a digital projector!

Our suite holders include organizations like the Paonia Chamber of Commerce, North Fork Mosquito Abatement District, HopeWest Hospice, as well as several successful private companies and start-ups.  Coworking members include freelance writers, graphic and web designers, entrepreneurs, and employees of local businesses that allow workplace flexibility.  More than just office space, the real value of The Hive comes from its members.  We believe in resource sharing and open collaboration for the benefit of our members, the local community, and the world.

Since we opened in May, the Hive has produced events including a sold-out lecture by New Economist Charles Eisenstein, Art Openings for three Paonia artists, Intro to Mac (Apple) Workshops led by the Hive’s new Resident Computer Techie, “Hive Mind” Coffee Hours, and more. Upcoming events include additional Intro to Mac Workshops (Oct 27), Intro to iPhone/iPad Workshops (Oct 28) and an Art Closing for Paonia Artist Lea Petmezas (Nov 7).
